Here’s the scoop…

We aspire to be your voice; our readers and followers matter the most

1:49 PM MYT

FOR the last two weeks, many of you have started getting acquainted with Scoop.

Founded by the three of us with a combined experience of nearly 100 years, we hope to fill a void in news and information consumption. But this value proposition is preceded by the question: do we need yet another news portal?

A simple answer is “Yes”. By resisting the temptation of going down the path of news of the day, we endeavour to bring you the news you can use – a mantra here in the newsroom.

Where-in, what you read in our portal or view on our social media entities should be relevant to you.

Malaysians are devoid of a platform that speaks for them. We hope Scoop can be your voice – especially in an age of relentless politicking, fake news, post-truth, and alternative facts.

We understand that it could be a challenge to decipher what is real and what is propaganda. And the disinterest exhibited by some of our young is largely due to the fact that news can be preachy, dry, and inconsequential.

At Scoop, our readers and followers matter the most. Their hopes, fears, and even rage are the proverbial bellwether our leaders, media, influencers, and corporations need to be listening to.

By refocusing the news towards the people, we believe we can play an effective role in nation-building and bringing down the political temperature.

Hence, it is not a coincidence that we rolled out during the state elections. And as you may have observed, we are a platform for all, but we draw the line at racially divisive vitriol.

We hope you will join us on this quest for a better Malaysia.

Thank you.
