SAM receives RM100,000 grant from KBS

Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh says the fund is to be used for training of sports journalists

PETALING JAYA — The Sportswriters Association of Malaysia (SAM) today received a grant of RM100,000 from the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS).

Minister Hannah Yeoh announced this at the SAM-100PLUS 2022 Awards ceremony at a hotel here last night.

“The fund, to be channelled through the National Sports Council (NSC), is for the training of national sports journalists to further improve the quality of journalism.

“I hope this grant will be utilised as best possible to further intensify courses to support journalists in Malaysia,” she said after the event.

At the awards ceremony, bodybuilder Datuk Mohd Syarul Azman Mahen Abdullah and shuttler Cheah Liek Hou were crowned as the Best Athlete and Best Para Athlete respectively. — August 30, 2023
