All Malaysian face-off in China Open quarterfinals 

Men’s doubles pairs Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi will face Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik to book berth in semis

KUALA LUMPUR – Independent men’s doubles shuttlers Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi will face their Malaysian compatriots, Badminton Association of Malaysia’s (BAM) Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik for a spot in the China Open semifinals tomorrow. 

This after the world number eight pair downed Danish duo Rasmus Kjaer-Frederik Søgaard to progress to the quarterfinals at the Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium in Changzhou, China. 

World number 31 Kjaer-Søgaard could not deal with Yew Sin and Ee Yi’s energetic play going down 21-12, 21-17 in 36 minutes. 

Yew Sin-Ee Yi have won two matches out of six meetings against the national shuttlers. 

Their last meeting was at the Indian Open in January with Aaron-Wooi Yik winning in straight sets 21-17, 21-11. 

Yesterday, Yew Sin-Ee Yi defeated home pair Ren Xiang Yu-Tan Qiang 21-16, 23-21. – September 7, 2023
