SUBANG JAYA — The country’s two leading professionals Paul San and Galven Green earned country exemption slots for the Asian Tour next year after sharing fourth spots in the 2023 Toyota Tour which ended today.
In today’s final round of the 2023 Toyota Tour played at the Saujana Golf & Country Club here, Paul registered a score of 3-under 69 while Galven managed a 2-over par 74.
With their respective scores for the tournament, Paul and Galven were tied for fourth place with Thailand’s Newport Laparojkit with a four-day total score of 8-under 280 in the tournament which started on November 15.
The tournament was won by Thailand’s Suttinon Panyo who registered a total score of 15-under 273, three strokes better than India’s Khalin Joshi (276) while Thailand’s Witchayanon Chothirunrungrueng finished in third place with a score of 9-under 279.
Paul when met today said he was happy with his overall performance throughout the four-day despite finishing in the top five places because the competition was very tough.
“The last tournament of the Toyota Tour is scheduled from November 29 to December 2 at Saudi Aramco.
“I will try my best to get the Asian Tour Card for next year,” he told reporters after today’s final round.
Meanwhile, Galven said his target for the next tournament to be played in Saudi, was to win the tournament and go on to play in the European Tour together with his brother Gavin Green.
According to the Asian Tour qualifying procedure, players who finish among the top sixth spots in the Toyota Tour will earn country exemption slots for the Asian Tour. — November 18, 2023
