KUALA LUMPUR – Three individuals, including the alleged victim and a director-general of an enforcement agency, have given their statements to police in relation to an alleged sexual harassment case.

Bukit Aman’s criminal investigation department director, Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain, said police had gotten a statement from the suspect yesterday and had seized a mobile phone believed to be used in the alleged offence.

“The case is in the final stages of investigation. The complainant is a 39-year-old woman who claimed that she has been subjected to repeated sexual harassment by a agency’s director-general via WhatsApp.

“Three people – the complainant, the suspect and a special officer to the suspect – have been called to give their statement. The aide was called up to confirm if there were any meetings between the complainant and the suspect.

“More witnesses are expected to be called in to facilitate the investigation,” he said during a press conference at Bukit Aman here today.

The case is being investigated under Sections 509, 507A and 292 of the Penal Code as well as Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. – November 24, 2023
