Bersatu’s Gua Musang MP says constituency allocations have arrived

This comes after he declared support for PM, but he has yet to know amount received

KUALA LUMPUR – After declaring his support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Bersatu’s Gua Musang MP Mohd Azizi Abu Naim said he has received federal funds for his constituency.

Utusan Malaysia reported Azizi saying that he was informed by the Kelantan Development Department under the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) that the constituency allocation had arrived.

The ICU is under the Prime Minister’s Department.

However, Azizi said he did not know the amount of funding received and that he would have to check with the department.

Azizi, who said he was busy attending the Kelantan legislative assembly meeting today, also told Utusan that his expenditures had to be submitted to the ICU.

According to him, another Bersatu lawmaker – Jeli MP Zahari Kechik – who similarly declared support for Anwar, had also received his constituency allocation through the same agency.

Government MPs under the present administration receive RM1.3 million in constituency allocations, while opposition lawmakers have been invited to negotiate with Putrajaya on what they need to assist their constituents.

However, no formal negotiations have been initiated by the opposition bloc.

Earlier this month, Labuan MP Datuk Suhaili Abdul Rahman, also from Bersatu, confirmed receiving the funds three days after declaring his support for Anwar.

The fourth Bersatu lawmaker to have declared support for Anwar is Kuala Kangsar MP Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid.

Suhaili and Iskandar have been suspended from Bersatu for six and four years, respectively.

All four are to be called in by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to have their statements taken, chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said on November 16. This follows police reports lodged against the MPs, with allegations of bribery and corruption. – November 26, 2023
