PUTRAJAYA – Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has dismissed rumours of his resignation amid speculation on social media regarding a possible prostate cancer diagnosis.

During the Polytechnic Transformation Programme 2023-2030 ceremony today, Zahid asserted his healthiness following recent prostate surgery.

Contrary to netizen speculation about him resigning from his positions as Umno president and deputy prime minister due to health concerns, Zahid said he was unaware of his own supposed resignation.

“I don’t even know about that (resigning my position) and I went for prostate surgery.

“All men have a prostate, whether it is big or small, but don’t make such speculations (on my resignation),” he told reporters at the event.

In a Facebook post on November 23, Zahid updated his followers on his recovery progress post-surgery.

Two weeks later, he resumed his duties as deputy prime minister during the Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

On November 19, Zahid’s eldest daughter, Datuk Nurulhidayah, confirmed her father’s good health in an Instagram post. – December 4, 2023
