KUALA LUMPUR – Police have recalled the parents of Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin to cast its net wide in its investigations, while a special task force is formed to investigate the alleged murder of the six-year-old autistic boy.

Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the investigation team will also be roping in all neighbours and people from the community who knew the boy to assist in the investigations.

“We will be recalling the parents and anyone with links to the boy to gain more details to investigate (the murder) from all angles,” he told Scoop, adding investigators would leave no stones unturned on the matter.

Hussein did not reveal the size of the special task force and said police have yet to identify any suspects so far.

Earlier today, Hussein said that Zayn Rayyan’s death was classified as murder. He confirmed this following the discovery of injuries on the neck and body.

Hussein said the case is now being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

Zayn Rayyan, who was reported missing since noon in Damansara Damai, last Tuesday, was found dead near a stream 200m from his residence, last night.

The 6-year-old was last seen at his home in Blok R, Apartment Idaman, Jalan PJU 10/1 Damansara Damai, Petaling Jaya at about 12pm.

Following that, the body of the child was sent to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for the post-mortem process.

Meanwhile, Hussein told Scoop that the area of the boy’s residence had a “moderate” crime rate, and was not known as a hotspot for criminal elements.

“As of now, there are no main suspects in mind, but we will be investigating all parties.” – December 7, 2023
