KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar has refused to comment on Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s latest remarks on Langkah Dubai, where the latter accused the former of being an “expert” in political tactics and the formation of backdoor governments.

Anwar instead advised Dr Mahathir to take care of his health.

“Tidak apalah (it is okay). Please look after your health,” he told reporters briefly after attending a two-day-long discourse on the country’s higher education strategy at the World Trade Centre (WTC) today.

Two-time former prime minister Dr Mahathir took to X this morning, denying that he had any involvement in the alleged Langkah Dubai plot.

“First of all, I haven’t been to Dubai for a long time,” he said, before proceeding to accuse Anwar of being an “expert” in forming a backdoor government.

Dr Mahathir has been named as an alleged mastermind of Langkah Dubai, whereby Perikatan Nasional (PN) leaders and certain government officials were said to have met in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) last month to identify and plan approaches to government MPs believed to be likely to switch support.

Also named was Dr Mahathir’s long-time ally, tycoon and former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin.

Both were named by Community Communications Department (J-Kom) Deputy Director-General Datuk Ismail Yusop in a Facebook post a week ago, as well as by Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Lokman Noor Adam.

Lokman, who is also Umno communications director, claimed RM750 million was being prepared to ‘buy over’ 15 government MPs, but that the “desperate” attempt would fail. – January 5, 2024
