KUALA LUMPUR – Eight cars were severely damaged due to a fire at a factory housing a Proton service centre in Taman Segambut, here, early this morning.

The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department’s operations centre said the fire had also completely destroyed a filing-cabinet room and a replacement-parts storeroom.

It added that a distress call was received at 8.08am, following which 27 personnel and machinery had rushed to the scene along Jalan Segambut Selatan.

“When the fire and rescue team arrived on the scene at 8.16am, it was found that the fire involved a warehouse with a Proton service centre. The fire of about 50 x 50 sq ft destroyed a spare-parts storeroom on level one and a file room on level two.

“A total of eight cars in the building were 70% damaged,” it said in a statement.

The fire saw no victims and the cause of the blaze is under investigation. – January 7, 2024
