KUALA LUMPUR – Motorists can enjoy toll-free travel tomorrow and Friday in conjunction with Chinese New Year, the Works Ministry said.

All highways except those crossing the Johor-Singapore border will be toll-free from 12.01am tomorrow to 11.59pm on Friday, for all Class 1 (private) vehicles.

Toll plazas exempted are at the Sultan Iskandar Building and Tg Kupang, both in Johor.

The first day of Chinese New Year falls on Saturday, and the second day of the festival on Sunday.

Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanti Linggi said the cabinet decided on the free tolls at its weekly meeting today.

The move will cost the government RM42.99 million and is aimed at lightening the people’s financial burden as well as to share in the festive joy of the Lunar New Year. – February 7, 2024
