KUALA LUMPUR – Several Rapid KL bus routes around the capital city have stopped temporarily due to floods following heavy rain this evening.

On X, Rapid KL said at 7.14pm that service around Brickfields is affected as several bus stops here cannot be reached because of high floodwaters.

These bus stops are at TM Brickfields, Hotel Prescott, SK Methodist, Palm Court, SMK La Salle, Suasana Sentral Loft and the Brickfields police station.

Routes affected are 600, 640, 650, 750, 751, 770, 772, 780, 782 and 821, it added.

In another tweet, Rapid KL said access to Brickfield was also hampered due to a fallen tree blocking a road.

“Buses will be rerouted to Jalan Syed Putra and return to its original route,” it said.

About an hour earlier, Rapid KL had posted that its buses could not operate on routes around the Chan Sow Lin MRT station because of floods.

Earlier today, the Meteorological Department forecasted thunderstorms and heavy rains in nine states until 7pm today.

Besides Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, and Putrajaya, other states affected include major towns in Perak, Melaka, Raub, Bentong and Cameron Highlands in Pahang, parts of Negri Sembilan and parts of Sarawak.

Additionally, towns in Johor namely Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Pontian, Kulai and Johor Bharu were also listed in Met Malaysia’s weather warning. – February 21, 2024
