KUALA LUMPUR – Genting Bhd’s Resorts World Genting has announced the immediate closure of two out of its three casinos.
An announcement posted on the Resorts World Genting website said that Genting Casino 1 (Circus Palace) and Genting Casino 2 (Hollywood) will be closed with effect from today.
However, no reason was provided for the closure of the casinos.
The notice recommended patrons go to SkyCasino for gaming instead and assured a shuttle service would be available daily from 10am to midnight.
The website has since added a clarification, stating: “In our ongoing effort to improve our operational efficiency and enhance the gaming and entertainment experience for our guests, we continuously upgrade our facilities.
“This will involve temporarily closing certain sections of our casino to facilitate the improvements.”
For years, the Circus Palace and Hollywood gaming zones have been integral components of the Genting Highlands experience, as they offered not only gambling options but also slot machines and card games.
It was reported that developments, particularly in the post-Covid-19 era, have witnessed a decline in patronage for these entertainment icons, resulting in the closure of both zones.
According to a report by Oriental Daily, the number of people visiting the ‘old’ casinos has been on the decline following the pandemic, as more visitors prefer the glamorous atmosphere of the SkyCasino. – February 28, 2024
