Funfair horror: two thrown off from spin ride in Kota Kinabalu

Tragic incident leaves man seriously injured, woman with head injuries

KUALA LUMPUR – A night out at a funfair in Kota Kinabalu yesterday took a wrong turn after two people were thrown off the octopus ride while it was spinning.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department, a man was seriously injured, and a woman suffered head injuries following the 8.55pm incident at the Likas Sports Complex.

Both have been sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment. 

The incident was also caught on camera and has been widely shared on social media platforms.

Kota Kinabalu Fire and Rescue station chief Ordine Gilu said in a statement that personnel, including Emergency Services Assistance Unit officers, arrived at the scene to provide first aid to the victims before taking them to the hospital. – March 7, 2024
