KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and Maktab PDRM have inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to build their capacity in handling cyber and narcotic crimes.

The MoU was signed by MCMC chairman Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din and Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, and witnessed by Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil and Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

As per the agreement, the two agencies will:

•  cooperate in initiatives to develop their capacity and joint syllabus relating to investigation and enforcement

•  MCMC or PDRM personnel will serve as instructors in the relevant training and research programmes, and

•  cross deployment for officers in both agencies.

Following this, Fahmi said the cooperation between the two agencies will strengthen talent development, especially in the communication and multimedia industry.

MCMC is committed to upgrade the network at the Maktab PDRM in Cheras here with the help of internet service providers.

The agency is also confident that improvements to network coverage will benefit police officers, who undergo training at the facility. – March 11, 2024
