KUALA LUMPUR – Singapore’s national football captain Hariss Harun has recently garnered attention not just for his on-field prowess but also for his success in the real estate industry.

The 34-year-old defensive midfielder recently achieved a gold award for his outstanding performance as a real estate agent with PropNex.com, marked by a significant five-figure commission.

PropNex.com is the leading real estate portal with the most comprehensive and updated property listings and market information for Singapore Property be it residential, commercial or industrial.

“Congratulations on achieving such a proud success, a 5-figure commission,” posted PropNex.com using Hariss’ poster.

Hariss, who had a long playing stint (2014-2021) with Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), made a transition to being a part-time real estate agent last year while playing for Lion City Sailors FC.

His venture into the real estate industry perhaps signifies preparation for retirement due to his age following a long footballing career.

Fans were pleasantly surprised upon discovering Hariss’s side job and expressed excitement and pride in his achievements.

Hariss has been an integral part of the Singapore national team since 2007, having played over 100 matches and scored eight goals for his country.

In 2021, Hariss mutually terminated his contract with JDT, citing family matters and the Covid-19 pandemic as reasons for his return to Singapore.

During his time with JDT, he amassed an impressive record of seven consecutive Super League titles, an AFC Cup win in 2015, and nine domestic trophies in Malaysia.

Hariss’ name resurfaced after Singapore’s 2-2 draw with China in the Group C World Cup qualifying campaign on March 21, prompting Chinese team captain Zhang Linpeng to announce his retirement from international football.

The last time Singapore beat China in a competitive match was at the 1983 Merlion Cup, with the Lions winning 1-0 in the semi-final, according to the Football Association of Singapore (FAS).

“I’ve been thinking about retiring. I think it’s time to end my career with the national team.

“We cannot beat Singapore. I think this is unacceptable and shameful,” said Linpeng according to the South China Morning Post.

Singapore, who had earlier suffered 5-0 and 3-1 defeats against South Korea and Thailand respectively, will face China again on March 26 at the Tianjin Olympic Centre Stadium. – March 23,2024
