Just keep your mouth shut, Fahmi tells Wan Fayhsal

This after Bersatu MP’s claims on purported draft on constituency allocations

KUALA LUMPUR – Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has some advice for Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal (Machang-PN) over the purported receipt of a draft on constituency allocations – if you don’t know anything, you should just keep your mouth shut.

In a press conference at Parliament, Fahmi (Lembah Pantai-PH) sarcastically suggested that Wan Fayhsal printed the so-called draft himself as he once said the government should print banknotes to resolve economic issues.

“I have checked with the Prime Minister’s Office and his political secretary, and there is no such draft.

“I think Machang felt he should step in to save the situation since it was brought up in Parliament last Thursday by the opposition leader (Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin).

“But the deputy prime minister (Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof) has denied issuing any draft document to the opposition on its requests for allocation. This has also been verified in the cabinet meeting (last week).”

Yesterday, Wan Fayhsal took to X, alleging that the prime minister had sent a representative to submit the purported documents to the opposition leader.

“It’s not fake news,” he said in his post.

Fahmi yesterday had refuted the opposition’s assertions regarding the purported receipt of a draft on constituency allocations from the government.

Previously, Datuk Rosol Wahid (Hulu Terengganu-PN) reportedly asserted that the opposition had requested a RM3.5-million annual allocation for its lawmakers during its recent talk with Fadillah.

In response, Fadillah said in a statement that there were no documents issued by the government or the opposition, nor was there discussion on any agreements. – March 25, 2024
