KUALA LUMPUR – The bodyguard who was mistakenly shot in the recent shooting incident at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) has regained consciousness after undergoing surgery at Cyberjaya Hospital last Tuesday.
The victim’s wife, Siti Noraida Hassan, told Scoop that her husband, Muhammad Nur Hadith Zaini, no longer requires a ventilator and is still receiving treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU).
“Thank God. My husband is awake, and he can speak (a little bit). He has stopped depending on the ventilator since this morning.
“However, he underwent temporary dialysis due to the injury affecting his kidney.
“I’m not sure when his next dialysis will be. We’re seeking advice from a kidney specialist,” she added.
Scoop previously reported that the 38-year-old victim underwent intestinal surgery last Tuesday and has remained in the ICU until now.
The media had previously reported that a bodyguard was seriously injured after being shot by Hafizul Harawi in an incident that occurred around 1.30am last Sunday.
Initial police investigation revealed that the suspect had intended to shoot his estranged wife, Farah Md Isa, the owner of a travel agency, who was waiting for umrah pilgrims’ return at the KLIA arrival hall. However, the bullet missed her and hit her bodyguard.
The suspect had fired shots twice before one of them hit Nur Hadith. – April 21, 2024
