KUALA LUMPUR – Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor should refrain from commenting on the affairs of other states and focus on administering his own, said Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil.
Fahmi suggested that Sanusi should also focus on other productive activities rather than meddling in matters that are not related to him.
“Instead of being a busybody in other states’ affairs, he should concentrate on completing the projects he has announced for Kedah,” Fahmi told a press conference after attending the memorandum signing ceremony between Finas and Socso.
Comparing Sanusi to Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, Fahmi noted a difference in their approaches.
“Sanusi talks a lot, but actions speak louder than words. There’s a disparity between his words and deeds,” Fahmi said.
This comes after Sanusi, who is also the elections director for Perikatan Nasional, said the coalition will capitalise on the apparent infighting within the unity government in the run-up to the upcoming Kuala Kubu Baharu state by-election on May 11.
Sanusi suggested that MCA’s decision to support the unity government’s election machinery only if a candidate from Barisan Nasional (BN) is fielded could work to the advantage of the opposition coalition.
Regarding Sanusi’s ongoing legal issues, Fahmi emphasised the importance of silence, especially given the sedition charges the Kedah menteri besar is facing.
“With the sedition cases against him, I feel Sanusi should just keep silent,” he said.
Earlier, the media reported that Sanusi was facing two counts of uttering seditious words at Simpang 4, Taman Selayang Mutiara-Kampung Bendahara, Gombak on July 11 last year.
The charges under Section 4(1)(b) of the Sedition Act 1948, which is punishable under Section 4(1) of the same act, carries the sentence of a fine of RM5,000 or a maximum jail sentence of three years or both, if convicted. – April 23, 2024
