“The suspect, a 39-year-old religious teacher, has been arrested for further investigation,” he said in a statement today.

Ahmad Shafiki said the case is being investigated under Section 377C of the Penal Code for “carnal intercourse against the order of nature”, which carries a jail sentence of between five and 20 years, with caning upon conviction.

He said the suspect was remanded for seven days on April 16 and the remand was extended for another seven days until April 29.

“Police advise the public not to make any speculation until the investigation of this case is completed,” he added. – April 26, 2024
