[UPDATED] X back up as of 4.30pm after another global outage

Downdetector shows over 4,000 reports on outages worldwide, 400 in Malaysia around 4pm but users report that it is now back to normal

KUALA LUMPUR – Social media platform X appears to be down again, with reports of outages spiking since earlier this afternoon. 

At 3.18pm, Downdetector began receiving reports about outages worldwide, with the number of reports climbing to over 4,000 at 3.48pm 

Checks by Scoop with various users found that they were unable to access their accounts whether via the mobile app or on desktop. 

X was also down on April 20, and before that, a few outages periodically since Tesla founder Elon Musk acquired the site originally known as Twitter for US$44 billion (RM210.5 billion) in October 2022. 

“Downdetector is the new Twitter lol,” said one comment on the site where app users can report outages or problems accessing an online platform.

Checks on the Malaysian Downdetector page also showed the number of reports picking up since 3.23pm with just 12 reports, to 429 complaints at 4.08pm.

By 4.33pm, users could access X again, and the number of complaints lodged with Down Detector for Malaysia had dropped to 17. – April 29, 2024
