KUALA KUBU BAHARU – Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate for the Kuala Kubu Baharu poll, Khairul Azhari Saut, has kept mum over allegations of his involvement with loan sharks.

When questioned about a post on X claiming that a PN candidate owed tens of thousands of ringgit to loan sharks, Khairul simply dismissed it, stating he had to travel to another location.

“No comment, thank you. I must be at another location,” he said when met by reporters after a PN ceramah in Batang Kali last night.

The post, dated April 28 and since removed, raised concerns about the candidature of a PN member who is in debt.

It questioned how such a candidate was selected for the election, suggesting the possibility of misusing state funds to settle their arrears.

“Can someone with a debt of RM37,363.00 to loan sharks be eligible as a PN candidate?

“Imagine if he wins; how will he manage funds from state assembly allocations? He might mistakenly use the funds to pay off the ‘along’, rather than benefiting the people,” the post’s caption said.

Khairul was previously embroiled in another controversy regarding his educational background, during which he chose not to comment when questioned by reporters.

According to his election resume, he earned an executive diploma in management from Universiti Malaya in 2019.

Additionally, he holds an executive master’s certificate in business management from Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), having completed the course in 2021.

Following the debacle, he posted his UMPSA certificates on Facebook, which was further validated by the university’s Advanced Chief Executive. – May 2, 2024
