[UPDATED] Late for work: Kajang MRT line faced heavy delays this morning

Regular MRT train service was restored by 11.03am

11:17 AM MYT

KUALA LUMPUR – Frustrated commuters relying on the Kajang MRT line were late for work today, no thanks to an onerous service disruption.

Rapid KL on X said trains faced delays due to one train facing technical difficulties at the Pasar Seni MRT station.

The incident caused trains from Kwasa Damansara, the last stop on the line, to turn back at Muzium Negara.

A shuttle train service was started to move passengers from Muzium Negara onwards to the Cochrane station.

At the other end of the line, trains from Kajang turned back upon reaching Cochrane.

One commuter told Scoop that he boarded the Kajang MRT line from Kwasa Sentral at 9.30am, and the train came to a stop on the tracks at 9.45am.

At 11.03am, Rapid KL said on X the disruption had been solved and train services will return to their normal intervals soon.

Apologising for the inconvenience, it also said the shuttle train service between the Muzium Negara and Cochrane stations would be halted.

Commuters earlier took to X to complain about the disruptions and sought clarification.

One user, @hnfzww, said he was stuck for about 30 minutes.

“Why is the stupid MRT not moving towards Kajang. It’s been 30 minutes already”

Another with the handle @kenazrain complained that the delay occurred in the morning while going to work.

@galihlavi was late to work and made sure the rail operator knew about it by tagging Rapid KL.

“Late to work because the MRT decides to break down @MRTMalaysia 3/5/24 9:33am.” – May 3, 2024.
