FAM condemns violent attacks on Harimau Malaya players

Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin extends support to Akhyar Rashid, Faisal Halim, urging for their swift recovery, return to action

KUALA LUMPUR – The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) lamented the recent incidents involving two Harimau Malaya squad players, Akhyar Rashid and Faisal Halim.

“We are deeply saddened by these two separate incidents. 

“Our thoughts are with Akhyar and Faisal, and we stand alongside football supporters and Malaysians in praying for their swift recovery and return to action,” said FAM president Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin in a statement.

Additionally, he stressed the urgency of bringing the perpetrators to justice swiftly. 

“We hope that the individuals responsible for these incidents can be apprehended and brought to justice as soon as possible,” Hamidin added.

Earlier today, Selangor FC winger Faisal fell victim to an acid attack at a leading shopping mall in Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya.

Two days prior, Terengganu FC winger Akhyar was assaulted by two unidentified suspects. 

He sustained head and leg injuries at his residence in Icon Residence, Kuala Terengganu. – May 5, 2024
