KUALA LUMPUR – Perikatan Nasional (PN) is set to announce its manifesto for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election at 5pm today.

This was highlighted in PN’s agenda for today, ahead of the by-election on May 11, where candidate Khairul Azhari Saut is expected to reveal the manifesto.

The launch of the manifesto at a cafe in Kuala Kubu Baharu town will also be attended by PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and other top leaders of the coalition.

Previously, Pakatan Harapan candidate Pang Sock Tao unveiled a five-point manifesto for the Kuala Kubu Baharu state by-election.

Themed “Kekal Kuala Kubu” or “Retain Kuala Kubu”,  the manifesto focuses on economic activities, facilities, environment and recreation, heritage and culture, and the people’s well-being.

Pang, who is representing the unity government in the by-election, said under the economic thrust, she aims to boost economic activities based on industrial development in Hulu Selangor, besides empowering the local tourism sector and entrepreneurship.

Meanwhile, Parti Rakyat Malaysia candidate Hafizah Zainudin’s manifesto outlines six offers, including efforts to establish a herbal plant technology hub for traditional medicinal purposes, aimed at encouraging the citizens of Kuala Kubu Baharu to participate in ecotourism economic activities.

The manifesto also outlines plans for the development of infrastructure, including public facilities, government buildings, police stations, and drainage systems, ensuring they are in good and safe condition.

Independent candidate Nyau Ke Xin, on the other hand, also presented 20 manifestos aimed at capturing the hearts of voters in the area.

Among these offers are initiatives to maintain roads and street lights, provide special transport for the elderly to hospitals, and establish a one-stop centre for paying utility bills.

Nyau’s other proposals include offering a free funeral van service, promoting Kuala Kubu Baharu as a tourist destination, creating income-generating businesses for residents, and establishing a special committee for eradicating extreme poverty. – May 6, 2024
