SHAH ALAM – The attack on Malaysia international Faisal Halim clearly touched the hearts of those in Malaysian football after several individuals showed up to support him at a private hospital here.

Several football figures, including Sri Pahang FC chief executive Datuk Mohamed Suffian Awang, when met, said they appreciated Faisal’s services during his spell with the Elephants before moving to play for Terengganu.

“Sri Pahang FC owner Tengku Muda Pahang Tengku Abdul Rahman Sultan Ahmad Shah has a soft spot for him and ordered that Faisal who was then just 17-years-old be groomed to see his best.

“Today, the Tengku Muda said we should visit him as well,” he said when met here today.

Commenting further on the delegation, including Sri Pahang team manager Datuk Dollah Salleh, he said that however they did not meet face-to-face and only managed to communicate via video call, which showed Faisal Halim’s condition was progressing well.

“We can see that he has a strong spirit even though he is sick and weak, but I am sure he will be more positive.

“What is important to me is that we as a football community, are a family and express our sympathy, prayers and words of encouragement to him as he continues to face challenges in his recovery,” he said.

Earlier, Faisal, who is also known as “Mickey,” was reported to be entering the reconstructive treatment phase involving the repair and restoration of the body’s structure.

It is understood that he is undergoing the next surgery after two previous surgeries.

Last Sunday, the local football arena was shocked by the acid attack on Faisal at a shopping centre in Petaling Jaya. – May 9, 2024
