Turkish military plane crashes, killing two pilots

Aircraft took off for training flight from base in Kayseri, says Ankara’s Defence Ministry

KUALA LUMPUR – Two pilots were killed after a military training plane crashed in central Turkiye, said the country’s Defence Ministry today.

It added that the plane took off from a military base in Kayseri on a training flight.

The reason for the crash is unknown but images of the half-destroyed plane wreck in a field have gone viral.

According to state media Anadolu Agency, rescuers are working at the crash site.

“I express my condolences to our martyrs’ families, to our heroic army and to our nation,” tweeted Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya. – June 4, 2024
