Tan Sri Ta to be laid to rest on Friday

Influential corporate figure passed away in his sleep at 72

KUALA LUMPUR – The late Waz Lian Group founder Tan Sri Ta Kin Yan, who passed away Saturday, will be laid to rest on Friday.

His funeral will take place at 11am at the Nirvana 2 Memorial Centre in Jalan Dewan Bahasa here. The wake will commence on Monday.

The prolific businessman and influential member of the Chinese community was 72 when he passed away in his sleep on Saturday afternoon. 

Leaving seven children, Ta just celebrated his birthday last month.

Born in the city of Putian in China’s Fujian province on May 7, 1952, Ta had various interests, including real estate and the hospitality industry, with his business empire extending beyond Malaysia into China and Hong Kong.

Despite a modest public and social presence, Ta is regarded as among the most influential corporate figures over the last 30 years.

His corporate footprint includes Fajar Baru Builder Group Bhd and Majestic Gen Sdn Bhd. – June 16, 2024
