KUALA LUMPUR – Selangor FC winger Faisal Halim received a heartwarming visit from former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad at his home in Shah Alam today.

This visit comes as Faisal recovers from severe injuries sustained in a shocking acid attack last month.

Faisal posted about the visit from Dr Mahathir on social media, expressing his gratitude and sharing photos of them.

“Never expected to receive a visit from a great person today. Thank you, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, for taking the time to visit my family.

“InsyaAllah, I will continue to persevere and try hard to return one day. Thank you all for continuing to pray for me,” posted Faisal.

On May 5, Faisal suffered fourth-degree burns on parts of his body, mainly his left arm and the left side of his face, after being splashed with acid by an unknown assailant while he was out with his family at a shopping mall in Petaling Jaya.

The injuries required Faisal to undergo intensive care, multiple surgeries, and a skin transplant using skin imported from Belgium.

Faisal is currently in the early stages of recovery, preparing to start sports rehabilitation.

The visit from the former prime minister has been a significant morale boost for Faisal, who remains determined to overcome his injuries and return to the football field.

Fans and well-wishers from across the country have been sending their prayers and support to the athlete throughout his recovery journey.

The investigation into the acid attack is ongoing, with authorities still searching for the perpetrator. – June 22, 2024
