KUALA LUMPUR – Former diplomat Datuk Noor Farida Mohd Ariffin, who was also a co-founder of the G25 group of prominent retired civil servants, died today. She was 76.
Her passing at a hospital was confirmed by G25 executive secretary Jasmine Zulkifli, reported Bernama.
“I was just informed by her family that Noor Farida had passed away. Her family will take her remains to the Kg Baru mosque,” Jasmine said in a brief message.
Noor Farida was the Malaysian ambassador to the Netherlands from 2000 to 2007, following which she was Wisma Putra’s research, treaties and international law director-general.
In 1971, she joined the judicial and legal service, where she served as a magistrate, senior assistant registrar in the Kuala Lumpur and Penang high courts, legal officer with the Economic Planning Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department, director of the Legal Aid Bureau and a sessions court judge.
Noor Farida, who was born in Kuala Kangsar, retired from the civil service in 2012. – June 27, 2024
