Light aircraft carrying two makes emergency landing near Port Klang

The plane, operated by the Subang Flying Club, made a Mayday call at 2.58pm

KUALA LUMPUR – A light aircraft, a Piper PA-28-161 with registration number 9M-ANA, operated by the Subang Flying Club, made an emergency landing near Port Klang this afternoon.

In a statement, the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) said Subang air traffic control received a Mayday call from the aircraft at 2.58pm.

CAAM chief executive Datuk Captain Norazman Mahmud said the aircraft carrying the two individuals departed from Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, Subang at 2.50pm.

“The Kuala Lumpur Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Center (KLARCC) at the Kuala Lumpur Air Traffic Control Center (KLATCC) was activated at 3.10pm upon receiving information to coordinate search and rescue operations,” he said in a statement.

He also said that investigation will be carried out under Part XXIII of the Civil Aviation Regulations 2016.

The plane was operated by a 57-year-old captain and a 22-year-old trainee pilot, Norazman added. – June 27, 2024
