Strong quake shakes Japan’s Bonin Islands

No tsunami threat to Malaysia, says METMalaysia

KUALA LUMPUR – A strong earthquake of magnitude 6.0 was detected near Bonin Islands, Japan Region, at 4.01am today.

METMalaysia, in a statement, said the quake occurred 871km south of Hamamatsu, Japan, at a depth of 567km.

“No tsunami threat to Malaysia,” it said. – July 8, 2024
