KUALA LUMPUR – The final report of the Elmina plane crash tragedy will be released on August 16 this year, said Transport Minister Anthony Loke.

According to his written parliamentary reply yesterday, the draft of the final report was completed and made public on June 14.

“The draft final report was sent for review and comment to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), the Accident/Incident Data Reporting (Adrep) system of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), Koperasi Amanah Pelaburan Bhd (KAPB) as the aircraft owner, and Jet Valet Sdn Bhd as the aircraft operator.

“The final report will be released by August 16, following a 60-day review period after the draft of the final report is received. This review includes feedback and comments from the NTSB, CAAM, Adrep ICAO, KAPB, and Jet Valet,” he said.

Loke was responding to Datuk Seri Ismail Abd Muttalib (Maran-PN), who asked about the latest developments of the investigation into the plane crash at Section U16, Shah Alam, last year.

On August 17, a private plane crashed in Bandar Elmina, resulting in the deaths of 10 individuals, including two crew members, six passengers, a motorcyclist, and a motorist.

The flight crashed two minutes before it was due to land at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang after it departed from the Langkawi International Airport.

CAAM later said the aircraft did not make any mayday calls prior to the accident.

On August 29, Loke said United States experts had retrieved data from the memory puck, which contains voice recordings of the flight’s final 30 minutes before its crash.

This came after experts in Singapore were unable to recover the data due to “technological issues and restrictions”. – July 17, 2024
