After Anwar, Zahid also denies a cabinet reshuffle

DPM says he has not been informed of any such move by PM Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim

KUALA LUMPUR – Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi says that he is not aware of any cabinet reshuffle in the Madani government.

“I have not been informed by the prime minister.

“So, it is beyond my knowledge,” he said in response to media queries following reports that a cabinet reshuffle is expected to happen by the end of this month.

Zahid earlier met reporters at a community programme at Jeram Tekoh in Gua Musang, Kelantan.

Earlier today, it was reported that a PKR minister whose performance has been “in question” would either be dropped from the cabinet or moved to another ministry, while several deputy ministers could potentially be promoted to ministerial roles.

It was also said that the cabinet reshuffle could take place by the end of this month, with a corporate source reportedly claiming that a minister’s team had cited the upcoming reshuffle in cancelling a minister’s attendance at a company event this month.

Rumours of a cabinet reshuffle have been whispered about for the past month or so, following the last reshuffle in December last year, which saw Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s cabinet expanding to 31 ministers from the previous 28.

During the last reshuffle, DAP’s V. Sivakumar was removed as human resources minister and replaced with fellow DAP lawmaker Steven Sim. – August 12, 2024
