KUALA LUMPUR – Sin Li Jane’s historic achievement on the Professional Women’s Bowling Association (PWBA) Tour is set to inspire more Malaysian bowlers to dream big.
Jane, who hails from Perak, claimed the prestigious Tour Championship, a major event in Michigan today by defeating America’s Jordan Richard 215-209 in the stepladder finals.
Earlier, Jane was named Player of the Year, becoming the first Asian to win the award.
The 32-year-old also secured victories in the Greater Nashville Classic, the Bowlers Journal Rockford Open, and the US Women’s Open during this season’s Tour.
“Follow your dreams, work hard, and just focus on your own game. This will lead you to where you’re meant to be,” said Jane, who won her first PWBA title at the Lincoln Open in 2017.
Malaysian Tenpin Bowling Congress (MTBC) secretary general, Maradona Chok, told Scoop that Jane’s remarkable success in the elite league will inspire more bowlers to strive for excellence.
Maradona even joked that it would already be raining gold for Malaysia if bowling were an Olympic sport.
“Jane is undoubtedly one of the best bowlers Malaysia has ever produced, and she continues to prove it.
“Her achievement will encourage more bowlers to dare to dream, and it will certainly elevate our standards.
“It would be raining gold for Malaysia if bowling were an Olympic sport,” he said.
Following the conclusion of the PWBA Tour, Jane will return home to prepare for the Asian Championships next month in Bangkok. – August 14, 2024
