Dollar index loses 0.5% to 102.464 in late trading on Friday

NEW YORK – The US dollar weakened in late trading on Friday, reported Xinhua. 

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, lost 0.5% to 102.464 at 3pm New York time (3am Malaysian time). 

In late NY trading, the euro advanced to US$1.1021 from US$1.0978 in the previous session, and the British pound increased to US$1.2944 from US$1.2862 in the previous session. 

The US dollar bought 147.67 Japanese yen, lower than 149.01 Japanese yen of the previous session. 

The US dollar decreased to 0.8670 Swiss francs from 0.8723 Swiss francs, and it was down to 1.3689 Canadian dollars from 1.3724 Canadian dollars. It also decreased to 10.4409 Swedish kronor from 10.5347 Swedish kronor. – August 17, 2024
