Brinchang road closed after landslide in Cameron Highlands, no injuries reported

KUALA LUMPUR – A landslide at KM67 of Jalan Besar Brinchang-Kea Farm at Cameron Highlands resulted in lane closures today. 

According to Tanah Rata Assemblyman Ho Chi Yang, the incident resulted in damage to a parked car on the side of the road caused by a falling electric pole. 

Fortunately, he said, no injuries were reported. 

“I would like to thank Cameron Highlands Land Department, the Fire and Rescue Department, police, Tenaga Nasional Bhd andthe Civil Defence Force for recovery operations,” Ho said in a Facebook post today. 

Meanwhile, Cameron Highlands police chief Azri Ramli confirmed that authorities received a report regarding the incident at about 11am today. 

As a result of the landslide, Azri said fallen trees, debris and a damaged electric pole have blocked both lanes. 

Police also said that operations are underway to resume traffic on the road. – September 21, 2024
