KUALA KRAI – The Fire and Rescue Department successfully captured a batik python measuring about 7m-long and weighing 240kg after it devoured three goats belonging to residents of Kg Ngangah yesterday.

Kuala Krai fire station chief Nik Ahmad Afsham Nik Pa said they received a call from a farmer at 7.15am, alerting them that the snake fled and hid inside the goat pen beside his home after swallowing a mother goat and her two offspring.

“In response, a team consisting of three members of the Guchil Volunteer Fire Brigade and seven members of the Kuala Krai fire station was dispatched to the scene

“The operation to capture the python took about 10 minutes,” Nik Ahmad said, adding that the snake was sluggish and unable to escape after gorging on its meal.

The reptile was handed over to the Kuala Krai Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) for further action. – October 28, 2024
