Zahid calls for BN’s radical rebranding to revive political dominance

The coalition's chairman urges transformation with innovative strategies and ‘brand humanisation’ to recapture public trust

KUALA LUMPUR – Barisan Nasional (BN) needs to rebrand itself in an effort to regain public support.

BN Chairman, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, said this step needs to be implemented, including redefining and restructuring the party.

“With a proactive, inclusive and innovative approach, BN must rebuild its identity as a dynamic force in Malaysian politics with a narrative that suits the demands of the times.

“The rebranding of BN must reflect a transformation in line with current challenges.

“A ‘brand humanisation’ approach, for example, can strengthen this effort by showing a more friendly and humane side of BN,” he said in his speech at the Golden Jubilee celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the formation of Barisan Nasional held at Dewan Merdeka, WTCKL earlier today.

Zahid added that BN, which consists of the component parties MCA, MIC and Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS), also needs to leverage the latest technology in reaching out to the people compared to the traditional methods of the past.

“In the past, our approach was more focused on traditional ways of reaching out to the people and now, BN needs to transform into a data-driven party, utilising the latest technology to understand the sentiment and thought patterns of the people.

“The suitability of the strategy, work and actions must be tailored to the diverse and multi-faceted nature of society.

“The success of BN’s recent (by-elections) in Nenggiri and Mahkota was also the right action in accordance with the wishes of the people… so we (need to) arrange it properly, identify potential candidates early on,” he said.

The BN Golden Jubilee celebration was also attended by BN Deputy Chairman, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and BN Secretary General, Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir.

Also present were MCA Chairman, Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong, MIC Deputy Chairman, Datuk Seri M. Saravanan and Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) Chairman, Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup. – December 7, 2024
