KUALA LUMPUR – Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB) and Edotco Group have completed the installation of 5G In-Building Solutions (IBS) at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and KLIA2  to improve connectivity for travellers and visitors.

In a joint statement today, DNB said this milestone comes as Malaysia assumes the Asean chairmanship in 2025, showcasing the country’s commitment to enhancing digital infrastructure at key transportation hubs.

“The installation, completed within two months, was activated on Friday at a handover ceremony between DNB, Edotco Group, and Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB),” it said.

“5G IBS allows MAHB users to enjoy faster and more reliable connectivity in public and commercial buildings, ensuring a seamless digital experience,” it added.

This indoor coverage also enables businesses and enterprises to implement new 5G use cases to improve operational efficiency and deliver better value to their customers.

DNB chief executive officer Datuk Azman Ismail said the company is committed to expanding 5G infrastructure across strategic, commercial, and government facilities.

He added that the installation of 5G IBS at KLIA and KLIA2 is part of DNB’s ongoing efforts to provide superior indoor connectivity in high-footfall areas across strategic and commercial buildings.

Meanwhile, MAHB chief information officer Vijay Kumar Dayinde said integrating 5G infrastructure in KLIA is a transformative upgrade that enhances operational efficiency and passenger convenience by leveraging 5G’s speed, low latency, and high data capacity.

“It supports the internet-of-things (IoT) devices, smart sensors, and advanced digital solutions, enabling us to meet evolving demands while prioritising efficiency, satisfaction, and resilience,” he said. – January 27, 2025
