Thaipusam: Anwar to visit Batu Caves today, says Ramanan

Minister says historic visit will allow the prime minister to observe preparations for Tuesday’s festival

KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will visit Batu Caves today ahead of the Thaipusam celebration next Tuesday.

Confirming the matter, Deputy Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said the historic visit will also allow Anwar to observe preparations for the festival at the Batu Caves temple.

Ramanan, who is responsible for overseeing Indian community affairs, said Anwar had informed him of the visit on Wednesday evening.

“The prime minister expressed his wish to observe the preparations ahead of Thaipusam while also spending time with the Indian community.

“He is looking forward to being on the ground at Batu Caves this year,” said the Sg Buloh MP when contacted by Bernama today. – February 7, 2025
