KUALA LUMPUR — Kuala Lumpur City FC (KL City FC) have reaffirmed that any decision regarding the club’s future will be made through an official board of directors meeting, following recent remarks by Kuala Lumpur Football Association (KLFA) president Syed Yazid Syed Omar.

In a statement posted on Instagram, the club emphasised its commitment to remaining in the Malaysia Super League and ensuring long-term sustainability.

“Any resolution regarding the club’s future will be made through a decision at the official board of directors meeting, including a consensus among the key stakeholders to ensure the sustainability and direction of this club, by taking into consideration the best interests of the loyal supporters of the City Boys, the players, coaches, management, sponsors and our partners,” the club stated.

KL City FC also expressed gratitude to their patron, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, for his support and vision in elevating the club’s status.

The response comes after Syed Yazid suggested that KL City FC might drop to a lower league due to ongoing financial difficulties, including unpaid wages. — March 7, 2025
