KUALA LUMPUR – Former Petronas Group senior general manager of strategic communications, Datin Anita Azrina Abdul Aziz, has been appointed as the new chairman of Malaysia Stadium Corporation (PSM), effective tomorrow.

Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh announced that Anita Azrina will serve a three-year term from 2025 to 2027.

She also revealed that the ministry has appointed Asian Football Confederation (AFC) secretary-general Datuk Seri Windsor John as PSM’s new deputy chairman.

“Both of them previously served as PSM board members.

“I believe Anita Azrina’s corporate experience with Petronas, combined with Windsor’s expertise in football, will help build on the efforts of former chairman Datuk Hans Isaac,” she said.

Hannah made the announcement during the Youth and Sports Ministry-Sportswriters Association of Malaysia (SAM) iftar event yesterday.

On Monday, Hans announced via Instagram that he ended his tenure as PSM chairman after two years in the role.

Under his leadership, PSM’s revenue grew to RM10.64 million in 2024, with the Bukit Jalil National Stadium generating RM1.8 million from non-sporting events such as concerts.

Hannah expressed hope that the appointments of Anita Azrina and Windsor would support the Kuala Lumpur Sports City upgrade programme as Malaysia prepares to host the 2027 SEA Games.

“I want KL Sports City to continue evolving into a world-class sports and recreation hub,” she said.

This report confirms Scoop’s story published on March 8, in which Anita Azrina has been speculated as the frontrunner for the chairman role.

In a separate matter, Hannah congratulated national bowler Tun Hakim Tun Hasnul Azam on making history as the first Malaysian to win a title on the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Tour.

She said she hoped the national bowling squad would continue bringing glory to the country.

Yesterday, the 25-year-old was crowned PBA Chameleon champion after defeating the United States’ Kevin McCune 269-227 in the stepladder finals at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno, Nevada. — March 20, 2025
