Putra Heights fire: Elite Highway’s Seafield to Saujana Putra stretch closed

Southbound traffic will be diverted at Seafield toll plaza and will re-enter the highway via Bandar Saujana Putra toll plaza

KUALA LUMPUR – Following a gas pipe fire incident in Putra Heights near the Elite Highway, the stretch between Seafield and Bandar Saujana Putra is currently closed to all vehicles as a safety precaution.

In a statement today, Plus Malaysia Bhd said southbound traffic will be diverted at Seafield toll plaza and will re-enter the Elite Highway via Bandar Saujana Putra toll plaza.

At the same time, the highway concessionaire said northbound traffic will be directed to exit at Bandar Saujana Putra toll plaza and re-enter the ELITE highway via Seafield Toll Plaza.

“All entry points to the ELITE highway via USJ and Putra Heights Toll Plazas are also closed to all vehicles.

“Motorists are advised to plan their journey and use navigation apps such as Waze or Google Maps during this time.”

Earlier, residents from houses near the incident area were evacuated by the Fire and Rescue Department following the blaze caused by a burst gas pipeline this morning.

Firefighters evacuated dozens of victims to the Putra Heights Mosque, which has been designated as a temporary relief centre, and those with minor injuries were placed at the Sri Maha Kaliamman temple here to receive medical treatment.

As of 11 am, 30 people have received early treatment while some have been sent to hospitals in Serdang, Putrajaya and Cyberjaya. – April 1, 2025
