KUALA LUMPUR — Liverpool are Premier League champions – also equalling Manchester United’s record of 20 top-flight titles – after thrashing Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 at Anfield Sunday.

The Reds had won the 2020 title during the Covid pandemic under Jürgen Klopp, who was succeeded by Arne Slot just last summer.

Slot humbly paid tribute to his predecessor for leaving him a hard-working squad in top form.

“I’m very, very happy of course but to a certain extent it also feels unreal.

“You’ve worked so hard for this moment to happen and, when it does happen, you need time to truly feel it,” 46-year-old Slot said in post-match remarks reported by The Guardian.

The Reds’ closest rival Arsenal, finished 15 points behind.

Mohamad Salah delivered the title for Liverpool by netting his 185th Premier League goal, giving the Reds 4-1 over the Spurs with his strike.

An own goal by Destiny Udogie sealed the final score and shot the Reds to an unbeatable score of 82, as the Anfield crowd erupted into emotional celebration.

Salah’s goal is his 46th this season in the Premier League, and it places him fifth in the list of most goals in a season, behind Andy Cole (187), Wayne Rooney (208), Harry Kane (213) and Alan Shearer (260). – April 28, 2025
