KUALA LUMPUR — Independent auditors are checking complaints of irregularities in the PKR divisional elections, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, adding that such allegations did not mean the party polls had been conducted unfairly.
Anwar, who is also PKR president, rejected claims of unfairness, saying that any complaint received would be reviewed.
“Why do you think it’s not just? Because there’s a complaint, then it’s not just? Very prejudicial.
“Just because somebody complains, it’s not just? No. If there’s a complaint, we take it up.
“Now independent auditors are checking in case there’s any validity. The question should be reasonable and not prejudicial,” Bernama reported Anwar saying.
He was speaking to reporters after the groundbreaking ceremony of the Rumah Belia MADANI and Rumah Mampu Milik Mukim Batu today.
Anwar was asked about allegations that the PKR elections were not conducted fairly and equitably.
Yesterday, PKR election committee (JPP) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa said party members have been advised to lodge complaints about the party’s 2025 elections through official channels to enable appropriate action to be taken.
She said this after some candidates were found to have posted about their dissatisfaction with the election results on social media.
She said complaints submitted would be reviewed by the JPP 2025 Objections and Complaints Committee.
Recently, Zaliha also said the results of the party’s divisional elections would be finalised on May 5 after all objections have been reviewed.
Four divisions – Jempol, Selayang, Silam and Semporna – will also be holding re-elections on May 1 after facing issues.
The party’s Central Leadership Council (CLC) will announce the winners of divisional posts, and the list of delegates to the National Congress for divisions on May 1, she added.
The National Congress is scheduled to take place from May 23 to 25, along with the respective congress for the party’s youth and women’s wings. – April 29, 2025
