KUALA LUMPUR — The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), in collaboration with the National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI), took part in the Madani Rakyat Programme (PMR) in Tawau, Sabah, today.
They showcased NADI Smart Services and several strategic initiatives aimed at benefiting the community, particularly in rural areas.
PMR was launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who also visited the NADI booth.
One of the booth’s main highlights was an exhibition on a drone-based medicine delivery initiative.
Spearheaded by the MCMC in partnership with the Health Ministry, MRANTI, and local drone technology firms, this pilot project aims to demonstrate the effectiveness of delivering medicines from health clinics to selected NADIs in remote and underserved locations.
“The goal is to improve access to healthcare in hard-to-reach areas such as islands, remote settlements, and places with poor road infrastructure,” MCMC said in a statement.
According to Anwar, the initial phase will begin in the final quarter of 2025, involving two NADIs — one of which is in Tawau.
If successful, the programme will expand to 150 NADIs in 2026, with plans to cover all 392 NADIs by 2027. There are 1,099 NADIs nationwide.
“This initiative seeks to enhance existing government efforts by leveraging technology — including 5G and artificial intelligence (AI) — to deliver more accessible and equitable healthcare services to rural communities,” the statement added.
The NADI booth also featured a variety of Smart Service activities centred around five key areas: Entrepreneurship, Health, Lifelong Learning, IT Awareness, and Government Services. — May 11, 2025
