KUALA LUMPUR – The sighting of the new moon of Zulhijjah to determine the date of Aidiladha will take place on May 27, according to the Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal.
The official date will be announced that same night on radio and television, as Aidiladha, which falls on the 10th day of Zulhijjah, is expected to either be on June 7 or June 8.
In a statement, it was said that the Conference of Rulers had agreed that the Aidiladha date would be set using both the rukyah (moon sighting) and hisab (astronomical calculation) methods.
Moon sightings will be carried out at 29 locations nationwide:
