PKR president to advise on Rafizi’s replacement to officiate Youth, Women’s Congress: Fuziah

Party sec-gen also denies that only she and Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim received the letter declining the invite

KUALA LUMPUR – Since PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli has declined the invitation to officiate the Youth and Women’s Congress on Thursday, his replacement will be announced after discussions with party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, said PKR secretary-general Fuziah Salleh.

Speaking to Scoop, Fuziah mentioned that they will also consult with the Youth and Women’s wings to explore possible replacements.

She said that a decision will be reached quickly since the congress is just a few days away.

“I will consult with the party president and gather opinions from PKR Youth and Wanita to determine who can take over if Rafizi still does not accept the invitation,” she said yesterday.

At the same time, Fuziah said that she and the party president were not the only recipients of Rafizi’s letter declining the invitation to officiate the Youth and Women’s Congress on May 22.

She said the matter was “too insignificant: to address but maintained that Rafizi’s statements were incorrect.

“It’s not accurate to say it was only sent to the party president and secretary-general,” she added.

Rafizi has maintained his decision not to attend the PKR Youth and Women’s Congress, which is usually opened by the deputy president, stating that his reasons are based on principles rather than political motives.

The Pandan MP expressed his concerns about a violation of party protocol following the launch of the PKR Sabah election machinery, which he claimed was announced without prior consultation with the PKR Political Bureau or the Central Leadership Council.

Additionally, Rafizi alleged that a confidential letter he sent, which was intended only for Anwar and Fuziah, was leaked. A version of the letter that circulated widely on social media indicated that Women’s chief Fadhlina Sidek was also listed as a recipient. –  May 20, 2025
