WTCKL’s Irmohizam honoured with Distinguished Leadership Award at India’s EEA 2025

He is the first Malaysian to receive the accolade recognising excellence in the business events industry

KUALA LUMPUR – World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) group managing director Datuk Seri Irmohizam Ibrahim has become the first Malaysian to be conferred the Distinguished Leadership Award by Exhibition Showcase at the Exhibition Excellence Awards (EEA) 2025.

The award ceremony, held on May 31 at the CIDCO Exhibition & Convention Centre in Navi Mumbai, India, recognised Dr Irmohizam’s leadership and significant contributions to the Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) and Business Events (BE) industries.

The award was presented by Michael Kruppe, Chief Executive Officer of the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC), alongside other industry delegates.

The EEA, organised by Exhibition Showcase and led by Group Editor Raghav Khosla, is India’s premier awards platform for the MICE and BE sectors. It celebrates individuals and organisations whose efforts often go unnoticed, yet are instrumental in driving economic growth and supporting national agendas.

“The award reflects my passion and unwavering commitment to the growth and transformation of the BE industry,” Irmohizam, who is also Board Director of the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA), said in a statement.

“I believe these efforts will continue to drive positive change and advocate to the advancement of the industry. I hope that in the future we can build a more resilient, innovative and inclusive ecosystem that empowers industry players to succeed and thrive in an evolving global landscape.”

The Distinguished Leadership Award honours those who have inspired change, demonstrated visionary leadership and contributed meaningfully to the evolution of the global MICE and BE landscape.

Other prominent recipients of the EEA 2025 include Ray Bloom (Founder and Chairman, IMEX Group), Mala Dorasamy (Chief Executive Officer, MITEC), and Adeline Vancauwelaert (Chief Operating Officer, UFI), among others.

WTCKL extended its congratulations to Irmohizam, expressing pride in his achievements and commitment to positioning Malaysia as a leading hub for the business events industry in Asia and beyond. – June 14, 2025
